Unit 2
unit 2 introduction to periodic table & bonding
Abstract
In the bonding lab we were suppose to look for the difference between ionic and covalent compounds, and how it worked in the medical field. Our lab group tested ionic and covalent substances to see if they reach a melting point or how they react. we tested it by putting the substances on a platinum plate, separated all substances and pit it on top of a heated plate to see how fast they would melt. Electrolytes are nutrients that live in your body that regulate your heartbeat and allows your muscle to contract. We tested how electrolytes worked on water and how it would affect your body we tried many soluble and unsolvable in water to see what good it can be in your body. |
Present Technology
Health practitioners test electrolytes by taking blood samples from the vain in the arm, this blood sample is just a little tube and within that blood it tells them how your eating or if you're missing any vitamins. practitioners test for electrolytes because they wan't to know how you body is doing, if your in need of electrolytes and you are not feeling good they make you drink sports drink and eat the proper meals to gain electrolytes. doctors notice when you're missing electrolytes not just by the blood sample but also how sick you look usually when bones ache little kids react differently usually they throw up or have high fever. |
